Teams are rival groups of penguins in Hockey, Snowball fights, Soccer and other sports. There are several teams, but the three most significant are the Blue Team, the Red Team and the Green Team. Almost every sport costume at the Stadium has come in the colors red, blue and green for the three teams. Red and Blue had a massive showdown at the 2008 Penguin Games.

Teams are rival groups of penguins in most of Club Penguin Island's sports. The four most significant teams are the Blue, Red, Green and the Yellow Teams. Most of their competitions take place in the Stadium or Snow Forts.

History
Main Teams
Early in Club Penguin's history, the first two teams were created: Team Blue and Team Red. The two teams competed in some of their earliest competitions in the Sports Party back in 2006. The Stage play Team Blue's Rally Debut was released in February 2008 as a tribute to the sports teams. The next competition took place during the Penguin Games in 2008. To celebrate, the Stage had released a sequel to the previous play titled Team Blue's Rally 2. In February 2009, a third play was released titled Team Blue vs. Team Red. Team Green outfits were introduced as secrets in the May 2009 Snow and Sports catalog. Over a year later, in the September 2010 Snow & Sports catalog, Team Yellow items were introduced. In the same month, Club Penguin: Game Day! was released which features the 4 teams competing to take over the island in a competition. Along with the release of Club Penguin: Game Day!, the Stadium Games took place on online Club Penguin. Once the Stadium Games ended, there was a halt in sport-related events focusing the main teams until 2014. At the 2014 Penguin Cup, the classic four teams were given names. Team Blue became the Sharks, Team Red became Hot Sauce, Team Green became the Space Squids and Team Yellow became the Fluffies. On July 3, 2014 the Sharks were announced as the winners of the Penguin Cup.

Clothing
Temporary Teams
*Face paints
Sometimes temporary teams would be made for certain Club Penguin events. The first three temporary teams made their first appearance at the Medieval Party 2008. Those three teams returned at every Medieval Party until 2011. Those teams were usually represented by orange, green and purple shields. The Medieval Party 2011 replaced those classic medieval teams with new ones represented by yellow, blue and red shields. Two years later, the Monsters University Takeover introduced four new teams competing in the Scare Games. The new teams were OK (Oozma Kappa), RΩR (Roar Omega Roar), PNK (Python Nu Kappa) and JOX (Jaws Theta Chi) and were all originally from the film Monsters University. On July 6, 2013 it was announced that Team OK won the Scare Games competition. The Amphitheater was decorated in honor of OK's victory.
During the Sports Day party, Red Face Paint and Blue Face Paint was given out that while wearing it, penguins could hold up a sign saying GO RED or GO BLUE depending on the colors. The paints returned during the Penguin Games. Later, in the April 2010 Penguin Style catalog, the Green Face Paint was released. When you waved with the green face paint, you could hold up a sign saying GO GREEN!

*Hockey
Main Teams
Every since the Clothing catalog released the Hockey Jerseys, the red and blue teams have been holding hockey games at the Ice Rink. The costume consists of either a red or blue hockey jersey, a hockey stick, the ice skates (given out at the sports party), and a hockey helmet. After the Penguin Games, the Ice Rink was replaced by the Soccer Pitch and hockey activity lessened. However, in the Christmas Party 2008, the rink returned and penguins started using it again until the soccer pitch struck back. On December 27, 2009, green team jerseys and goalie gear wear available as hidden items in the sports catalogue.
Sharks/Team Blue
The Sharks (Team Blue prior to the Penguin Cup) are one of the two original teams on Club Penguin Island, along with Team Red. Team Blue are known by their team spirit and fellowship. If you helped 2 Team Blue members in the mission Clockwork Repairs, you would have received a Blue Pennant. The Dock was their base during Club Penguin: Game Day!. If you join Team Blue and conquer the Beach and the Town, Team Green will take over the Dock, forcing you to take it back. There are two plays focusing on Team Blue, those being Team Blue's Rally Debut and Team Blue's Rally 2. The Sharks are the most popular team.

*Cheerleaders
Clothing
Red or blue team cheerleader penguins cheer on their teams during sporting events. They wear a red or blue cheerleader dress with red or blue pom-poms. Some cheerleaders wear wigs along with their outfit. Currently, the cheerleader dresses are at the Sport Shop, but although the pom-poms are not in the catalog at the time, they did make an appearance during the play Team Blue's Rally Debut at The Stage. In the sequel too Team Blue's Rally Debut, male cheer-leading outfits were released. On August 27, 2009, the Sport Shop started selling Green cheerleader uniforms.

*Football
Space Squids/Team Green
Although there are no football fields on the island yet, red and blue football uniforms were released in the Sports catalog in November 2007. These uniforms include the red or blue football jersey, a red or blue football helmet, and the new football item. There are also orange helmets. On August 27, 2009, the Sport Shop started selling Green football uniforms.
Team Green is the third team introduced for Club Penguin Island. Team Green members are known by their fun-loving spirits. The Town was their base during Club Penguin: Game Day!. When Team Green was first introduced in March 2009, all of their items were hidden in the Snow and Sports catalog. After the September 2010 issue of Snow and Sports, the Team Green items were no longer hidden.

*Baseball
Clothing
Red, blue, and green (hidden item) baseball uniforms are available at the Sport Shop, as well as baseball gloves and red, green, and blue baseball hats. Although there are no baseball diamonds in Club Penguin, members can construct them in their igloos. There are no baseball bat clothing items, but there are furniture baseball bats. There are also yellow and pink hats in the Gift Shop, as well as purple and brown hats in the Treasure Book.

*Soccer
Hot Sauce/Team Red
Red and Blue soccer penguin clothing came out in Spring 2008, in June 2009 they returned. Most soccer games take place at the Soccer Pitch, but some members build soccer fields in their igloos. Soccer cleats and a soccer ball items were released in the summer of 2008 and when just wearing the soccer ball(it still works if your wearing a soccer jersey and cleats) and dancing, the penguin would kick the soccer ball from each foot back and forth.
Team Red is one of the two original teams on Club Penguin Island, along with Team Blue. Team Red are known by their strength and power. You have to help a Team Red member win back the Trophy in Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force mission Rookie On The Rocks, and play Snowboarding against Team Blue. The Snow Forts was Team Red's base during Club Penguin: Game Day!. Unless you are on Team Red, you have a big disadvantage on Snowball Fight. If you are on Red Team you have a cannon to fire snowballs, if not, you have to throw snowballs normally.

*Basketball
Clothing
Red and blue basketball jerseys came out during the summer of 2008 along side a basketball item. Member penguins can construct basketball courts in their igloo. The only basketball court in Club Penguin is the one that appears during the Team Blue's Rally Debut play and its sequel, Team Blue's Big Rally 2.

*Track
Fluffies/Team Yellow
In August 2008, red and blue track uniforms appeared in the Snow and Sports Catalog. Penguins could purchase track course pieces and build a course in their igloo. Track became a big event during the Penguin Games.
Team Yellow is the fourth team introduced on Club Penguin Island. Team Yellow members are known for their creativity. Team Yellow was introduced in the September 2010 Snow and Sports issue. The Beach was Team Yellow's base during Club Penguin: Game Day!.

*Dodge ball
Sports and Other Activities
Dodge ball is a game that could be played in The Stage during Team Blue's Big Rally 2, where snowballs become dodge balls. Outside of The Stage dodge ball is played with plain snowballs. Although many penguin do not wear it while playing it, the official dodge ball costume is either the red or blue track jacket.
Everyday the four main teams of Club Penguin compete in sport competitions around the island. These competitions usually take place at the Stadium or Snow Forts.

*Referees
Snow Forts
Although not a sport, some penguins dress up as refs during certain sports games (mainly hockey). The costume came out in the sports catalog for November 2007 and later returned for the play, Team Blue 2. If you wave with this on, your penguin will hold up a sign saying GOAL on it in capital letters. Often penguin will put on either the red or silver whistles on too, but when doing this they blow the whistle when they wave instead of holding up the sign.
At the Snow Forts there are two forts with Red and Blue flags, built by Team Red and Team Blue respectively. There are no forts built by Team Green or Team Yellow at the Snow Forts.

*Tennis
During Parties
To be a tennis player, a penguin must wear a tennis racket and either the new orange or pink tennis sports jersey. Badminton/Tennis nets can also be bought for 700 coins from the sports catalog, as well as nets and a court for igloos. Oddly, this sport doesn't feature red and blue colors.

Sometimes for certain parties or events, the snow forts are replaced with another activity or sport. For example, during the Puffle Parties until 2013, there would be an individual fort for each puffle. After 2009's Music Jam would feature a Battle of the Bands at the Snow Forts replacing the regular snowball fights. The Music Jam 2013 was the first Music Jam not to include this feature. At the Card-Jitsu Parties, penguins could play Card-Jitsu at the Snow Forts.

*Swimming
Stadium
During the Penguin Games, swimming contests were held in the underground pool. Swimmers often wear some sort of bathing suit and sometimes swim goggles.
After the Penguin Games in 2008, the Stadium has been used for both Hockey and Soccer. Ice Hockey usually begins at around November or December and Soccer begins at around March through June. As of the Penguin Cup, there is now a scoreboard and every five minutes the teams change.

*Ice Skating
During Parties
Ice Skates were first released at the 2006 Sports Party. New Ice Skates were later released in the Sports Catalog in November 2008, as well as a skating dress.

Sometimes for certain parties or events, the stadium's sport at the time is replaced by another activity or sport. During the Water Parties and Adventure Party 2009, the Stadium was replaced by a large pool and a ball was used. During the Medieval Parties the Stadium is changed to a Medieval-styled Stadium. From September to December, the Stadium Games were held. After the Holiday Party 2011, every Holiday Party featured an ice skating rink that replaced the Stadium. During the Puffle Party 2014, there was a puffle competition taking place at the Stadium. The Stadium was upgraded temporarily as a racetrack for the Turbo Race 3000.

*Rock Climbing
Other
In 2009, a hidden Rock Climber suit has released alongside an igloo rock climbing wall. Now both items are no longer hidden. The suit only comes in one color.
There are many other sports the teams participate in such as American football, baseball, basketball and track racing. Although a football field never makes an appearance on the island, uniforms are still released in the Snow & Sports catalog. The Fluffies are the only main team that lack Football jerseys. There is an Orange Football Helmet despite there being no main Orange Team. Baseball uniforms and tools to make your own Baseball Field were sold in Snow & Sports catalog. The Fluffies lack a Baseball uniform, although there is a yellow baseball cap, there is also a pink baseball cap. Despite there being no official Basketball Stadiums on the island, the plays Team Blue's Rally Debut, Team Blue's Rally 2 and Team Blue vs. Team Red's settings take place in a basketball stadium. Members may create their own Basketball courts in their igloos. Only during the Penguin Games, there was a large track around the island. There were also tracksuits players could buy from the Snow & Sports catalog.

Trivia
The 4 teams that competed in the Penguin Cup.

Temporary Teams

Main Teams

Sports and Other Activities

Everyday the four main teams of Club Penguin compete in sport competitions around the island. These competitions usually take place at the Stadium or Snow Forts.

Snow Forts

At the Snow Forts there are two forts with Red and Blue flags, built by Team Red and Team Blue respectively. There are no forts built by Team Green or Team Yellow at the Snow Forts.

During Parties

Battle of the Bands at the Music Jam 2011.

Stadium

After the Penguin Games in 2008, the Stadium has been used for both Hockey and Soccer. Ice Hockey usually begins at around November or December and Soccer begins at around March through June. As of the Penguin Cup, there is now a scoreboard and every five minutes the teams change.

During Parties

During the Stadium Games.

Other
