Template:VoteEnd Right, it's Tigernose again. I'm getting a little fed up with our current Penguin of the Month competition. Okay, not a little - a lot! I hate it! We have requests everywhere, there are people who are there and quit two years ago and even people who win but haven't edited for a month. No offense to Alx or anything, but his last active editing period was back when September started!

I want to change this. The vote we have is corrupt. People vote for themselves, or their friends and whenever they see someone winning - they vote for them. I really want the poll to be removed and replaced with a typical "section for and against vote", like the ones we have in the new Wall of Fame system. This ensures nobody requesting to be up there and no cheating. And I mean it, this way you cannot cheat.

Simple as that, "for" and "against", follows the same guidelines as the new user rights and wall of fame system, except votes are cleared every month. Penguin with the highest vote difference wins and is featured on the main page. Also, below the name would be a little quote from the "comments" section.
The quote will be chosen by the winner so for example if Seahorseruler said this in the comments section:

"<User> has been really great this month. He has helped with so many things!"

and Sharkbate says this:

"<User> has had some great ideas. He's awesome!"

the winner then decides which quote is the best, and the decided quote is inserted below the name as if it was a quote in an article.

This really would stop requests and cheating and corrupted winning. Oh yes, you need to nominated by one person and it has to be confirmed by an administrator.

• Why I'm saying no: 1. I personally wouldn't bother anymore if I had to write something every time. 2. IP's can't do this, and they are very important in the polls. In short, it's unnecessary time consumption. While thinking you have respect might be important to you, Tigernose, it isn't in the long run. Also, I don't see how people can cheat unless they have a dynamic IP or using a proxy, as you can only vote once in a poll as far as I know. But really, it's not that important, get over it.

I think that they have to be nominated because its the same people every month it never changes and there are people who have already won PotM sitll on the list and one of the rules is once yove been penguin of the month you cant win again so we deffinatly need a new way to work this out--Brendan7195 ^{Viva la Wii} 20:12, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

• You can cheat by voting for yourself... or making multiple accounts, or telling others to vote for you. Can't a nomination system solve this? If it can't, why don't we remove this altogether? Because people like the PotM... --Tigernose Chat • Edits 19:56, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
