Club Penguin Private Servers (usually just called a CPPS) are unofficial copies of the Club Penguin game that have not been endorsed by Disney. Because they can not use the regular Club Penguin server, they use alternative code usually written in PHP. Usually, these servers have free membership, perks such as nameglow, commands and custom items or rooms. Many of the restrictions placed by the canonical game are usually removed (such as the chat filter). Because of this, private servers are somewhat like a cheating device, without the fear of being banned.
