The Propeller Cap is a head item usually given away during April Fools' parties or at the Festival of Flight 2009. It is a free item, available to non-members and members. If you dance and wear only the propeller cap, you can hover a couple of inches above the ground. There are currently three types of propeller caps:

- All Green Puffles own a Red Propeller Cap, which they will use when dancing and playing.
- Rookie also wears a Red Propeller Cap.
- Some penguins spin their mouse around in a circle, as if their penguin was building up power, then press D to float.
