====Mastermind of Wiki Law==== | |||
Gave myself this nickname on May 4, 2011 after I realized how many policies I've came up with myself in the past. Of course, I still have to battle the community in somewhat of a "verbal civil war" over something like missions. Wanted to joke that they could simply make a Google Sites account and website and make a whole bunch of pages with links on them for missions. In about 25 days, it'll mark the 1st anniversary since being promoted to admin. |
Revision as of 04:32, 6 May 2011
Here is my history on the Club Penguin Wiki:
Wikia Era (July 29, 2009 - September 25, 2010)
Early Era (July 29, 2009 - February 15, 2010)
First Month
I joined the Club Penguin Wiki on July 29, 2009 and recorded my first edit at 9:52 PM PDT. Like new Wikians, I am not skilled with Wikicode, and created my userpage by typing out a few sentences. Compared to now, I was not active with the Club Penguin Wiki when I first joined, as I edited every few days and a majority of them were userpage edits. I created my first article on August 23, 2009.
Switchover to ClubPenguinArchives
Not knowing how to revert edits at the time, I found it annoying to have a poll stub on my userpage (it was the bottom part of a poll, appearing out of nowhere without coding for it). Also knowing I was creating videos of past pins and parties at the time, I created the user ClubPenguinArchives, and continued editing there.
Silence
Although it seemed like I was editing on the wiki more, I actually had a dry spell without a single edit for almost half a month from October 01, 2009 until October 17, 2009. Up to this day, I am still not sure why I didn't edit for such a long period of time, but all I knew was that I did not quit.
Christmas Party
I was invited to a party for the first time by Squishy89 to his Christmas Party. I was hoping I was able to make it there, but I failed to show up (apparently, I was at Costco). On December 25, 2009, I gave the wiki a bad present: no edits. This also is the last time I failed to record a single edit in a day.
New Friends
Although I wasn't able to make it to Squishy's Christmas Party a month ago, I received another party invitation. This time, it was by Brookelas about his Prehistoric Party. I was able to make it to the party, but I did not have too much fun, as I was a non-member. I was an early-bird, as I was waiting at the Mine Shack 15 minutes prior to the party. I found Z Max1 there, but my invitation for him to be my buddy was never approved. Minutes passed by before I met Hat Pop. Like I did to Z Max1, I sent her a buddy request. It was approved, and she became my first buddy since I joined the wiki (did it have to take 6 months though?).
IRC
In late January, I found out that this wiki has an IRC channel. I entered the channel and I met some familiar faces. At the time, I was using Google Chrome and Webchat for IRC, until someone (I can't recall who) suggested that I use ChatZilla. Because ChatZilla is only for Mozilla Firefox, I installed Mozilla Firefox and ChatZilla. A few months later, I became a permanent visitor on Hat Pop's channel and Hal Homsar Solo's channel, and I also created my own channel. Up to this day, I still use Mozilla Firefox and ChatZilla.
Club Penguin Wiki Games
In late February 2010, after canceling the Hat Parade I was organizing for March 9th, I reorganized another party similar to the Olympics, called the Club Penguin Wiki Games. Although the sign-up list looked optimistic, only four people showed up on March 11th (including myself). What motivated me to start this is the fact that I live in the city of the XXI Winter Olympiad (Vancouver). The Club Penguin Wiki Games are still running up to this day, although I have retired from it.
Pre-admin Era (February 15, 2010 - May 30, 2010)
Back to LordMaster96
After learning how to use the undo button, I realized I could have simply reverted the poll stub. I undid that, and because it worked, I went back to User:LordMaster96, although I was asked "Why did you switch users?". Following the advice, I just simply stuck with the account I have right now.
Edit-bomb Days
Prior to becoming an admin, I used to have a edit number set as a goal per day. The original goal was 20 edits a day, until I realize I keep getting over 50, so I had it changed to 50 edits a day. Since that goal was set, I have had over 50 edits a day for a streak of 42 days before it came to a halt with a day with under 30 edits. Although that was one day, my edit numbers kept rising and I also set a personal best of over 400 edits on May 5th. I have not been able to get close to that number since.
Teamwork
On April 24, 2010, after spotting an archive tag on a pin article, I asked Hat Pop on IRC to see if it was absolutely necessary. It turned out we could put the tags on every pin article, so we decided that I would put the archive tags on the pins starting from the Shamrock Pin, and Hat Pop would start from the Frog Pin. Hat Pop said that eventually result in an edit conflict. Well... she got tired of it before the conflict even happened! Because there are a lot of pins, it gave me around 100 edits.
Newest Administrator Era (May 30, 2010 - September 22, 2010)
Nomination
My admin days started in mid-May 2010 with a nomination poll after several admins have stepped down. Along with several other users, I was a candidate to be nominated. I already had a feeling I would be an admin when Seahorseruler said to me on IRC, "LordMaster96, you have a very high chance of being nominated to be an admin in the next 72 hours". I was stunned. I never knew I would have qualified to be an admin. When the nomination vote started, I thought it would be a bumpy ride until I reached my goal, but it was the opposite. I won the RFA by a margin of 19:0 (For:Against), and I was promoted on May 30, 2010.
As a first-time admin, I was instructed to do several things, such as not messing around with the wiki's skin as it could bring down the whole wiki. I also found out that day that if I were to delete a single message on the Shout Box, it would be an instant demotion. Up to this day, I have improved a lot since my promotion, and looking back since I first joined, it actually makes me think of myself as a noob back then.
1st Anniversary
Wow... I've been on Wikia for a year already? Time seems to have gone by so fast. It seemed like it was only yesterday that I met Hat Pop. Well, my first anniversary turned out it wasn't an anniversary for myself. From what I found out, today is also Ced1214's 1st anniversary for being on IRC, and also, today's edition of the Club Penguin Times is the 250th edition. Since I made my first edit at 9:52 PM PDT, I hoped that I will have 11,499 edits by that time so I can revert my userpage to its first original version. The plan worked out, but at the revert, I left a message, and I wrote 14,499 edits instead of 11,499 (I wished)!
Early Unblocking Policy
After several people came up to me asking that they'd be unblocked early, I created the >Early Unblocking Policy shortly after my 1st anniversary on Wikia. I didn't expect the policy draft would pass, as it was my first policy and that it seemed useless, but it turns out it was official in 19 and a half hours.
Relive "Edit-bomb Days"
With the introduction of the "To-do list" in August 2010, my edits went skyrocketing once again. This time, it wasn't a 50 edits/day streak. Instead, it was 100 edits/day. Upon pasting my award for 13000 edits, I left a note saying "Life needed.".
Nightmare
Up to this day, I still don't think this should've happened on the afternoon of September 15, 2010. I caused IRC drama, which resulted a lot of hate, and a possible war. Seeing that I may be completely responsible, I was thinking for the first time if I should just resign as administrator, but seeing that the wiki will be "down" with only four admins, I'll just keep doing my job. I am still shocked that I managed to cause such chaos, even if Hat Pop has tried to cheer me up.
End of an era
To end this era, chaos fell over my stupid talk page. Every time something bad happens with me in it, I am probably the one to blame. As for a talk page with two messages before archive, I should've just been patient. Being a stricter admin probably means I'm gaining experience. By the way, my talk page has a message that notifies users that they will be facing blocks if they vandalize or spam my user talk (all because of a stupid incident that I think I may have lost a friend in). This also marked the first time I swore on this wiki:
- (cur) (prev) 18:04, September 22, 2010 LordMaster96 (Talk | contribs | block) m (31,301 bytes) (WT* is this?) (undo)
New Wiki Era (September 25, 2010 - present)
End of Wikia CPW Era (September 25, 2010 - November 30, 2010)
Late normal edit days
At the end of September, I heard that the wiki will have a chance of leaving Wikia. Later on, it was confirmed when it was announced that November 3 will be the official implementation of Oasis. When the new wiki was operational, my edit numbers started dropping, and I started contributing to the new wiki with article imports. I have also kept a list of users, seeing that I may be a checkuser one day. In early October, I have started to actively edit here once again, as the new wiki is awaiting donations for a new host. The trend from this point is unclear, as we do not know how many users will actually donate. For one thing is certain: as unofficially as a top contributor and 650 edits away from being an official one, I know that I have done a big part in the Wikia Club Penguin Wiki by doing my part as an administrator, reverting vandalism, creating over 450 pages and by giving out reminders, tips, etc. My job here is not over... not just yet.
AutoWikiBrowser
On October 22, 2010 at 11:00 PM, I decided to go one step ahead and create a bot account, which would be run with AutoWikiBrowser (AWB). Within 24 hours, it has done a big task already, which is changing all the ItemInfoboxes from the |tbook
parameter to the |unlock
parameter, and at the end of the day... over 1500 edits by that bot! Surprisingly, I learned that Staffan15's bot was created on the same day in UTC time one year ago.
Settling in Era (November 30, 2010 - March 21, 2011)
History!
On December 23, 2010 at 11:40 PM Pacific, I recorded my 20,000th edit of the year, with 20,049 total for the account LordMaster96. This was all due to the image uploads. I don't think that anyone else would get 20,000 edits in a year for quite a long time, or maybe I would hold this forever on the Club Penguin Wiki. We'll see... in 25 years... 50 years... who knows? By the way, it's still counting, including this revision right here.
Promotion!
To end an era and to begin a new, I was promoted to staff on December 28, 2010. It was the second time Seahorseruler offered me staff. The first came about a month ago. I didn't choose to take it at the time, as I said "maybe later" and "I'm not quite ready yet". This time, as he offered it, he also mentioned that some staff would be demoted. This time, I accepted the request because since the time since I was offered the right, I did learn things, and I even have an account on some "control panel". Hopefully my days as staff will go well.
Influencing blogs?
In mid-January 2011, I created my own blog. Its popularity has somewhat risen as of March 2011, and also, am I influencing new blogs? Because a month later I created my blog, ClubPenguinMaster creates his own blog, NickelbackFan37 creates her blog, and Shanky6050 considered making one. Amazing. Also, my "one edit a day streak" is now at 431 days. It's in danger of ending in 20 days.
Vacation and post-vacation era (March 22, 2011 - present)
Streak ends
After 449 days (by local times) or 451 days (Pacific time), my "one edit a day streak" comes to an end. I'm now looking to start a new streak, but chances are it will not reach 451 days, which is well over a year.
By the way, does China really have to block YouTube, Twitter and even Blogger? I'm a bit ticked of because not only can I not make a post to let my readers know I can't post, I can't make a Tweet to let them know either.
