The Club Penguin Improvement Project (mostly known as CPIP), was a kind of beta testing version for Version 2 of Club Penguin in 2008. Everyone who participated got a Red Construction Hat.
Timeline
- March 10th: CPIP was launched.
- March 11th: The "get unavailable items" bug was found by the Club Penguin Team.[1]
- March 14th, 4:15 PST: Moderator party with Billybob, rsnail and Screenhog on Test Server 1.[2]
- March 27-31: Everyone who logged into the test servers turned into green puffles.
- April 4th: The test servers were removed.[3]
- April 14th: The new website was completed, and the new servers were launched.[4]
- July 13th: CPIP was closed.[5]
Removed Changes
- Clear Outfit button: Instead of removing all items one by one, penguins could remove them all at once by clicking a red X at the bottom right of their Player Card.[6]
Trivia
- Billybob was known as "BillyBob" on the CPIP blog.
- During the April Fool's Party 2008, when players would log on, they would become green puffles instead of penguins. This can still be done using Penguin Storm.
- CPIP participants are not considered Beta Testers, although sometimes mistaken as such.
- The Red Construction Hat is referenced in the "Construction Worker" Card-Jitsu card.
