Fred, or Fred the Clockwork Cuckoo is the clockwork bird that emerges from inside the cuckoo clock in the Ski Lodge. His name first appeared in The Penguin Times #87. He still exists today, appearing every half hour (Penguin Standard Time).

He has also now appeared in the Paint by Letters book, My Puffle.

Trivia

• During the 2008 April Fool's Party, he came out every 5 minutes!
• On 17 April 2008, He broke and came out every second!
