Club Penguin Private Servers are copies of the Club Penguin game. Because they can not use the regular Club Penguin server, being a closed-source product, they use alternative code usually written in PHP. Usually, these servers have free membership, perks such as nameglow and custom items or rooms.

Legality

The legality of Club Penguin private servers have been called into question by many. The server software itself is legal, but the client files do often violate copyright as they are usually from Club Penguin.
