The 4 teams that competed in the Penguin Cup.

Teams are rival groups of penguins in most of Club Penguin Island's sports. The four most significant teams are the Blue, Red, Green and the Yellow Teams. Most of their competitions take place in the Stadium or Snow Forts.

History

Team Red and Team Blue were introduced early in Club Penguin's history. The two teams competed in some of their first competitions in the Sports Party back in 2006. The Stage play Team Blue's Rally Debut was released in February 2008 as a tribute to the sports teams. For the Medieval Party 2008, 3 new teams were introduced: Orange, Green and Purple. These 3 teams would appear at every Medieval Party until 2011. The next competition took place during the Penguin Games in 2008. To celebrate, the Stage had released a sequel to the previous play titled Team Blue's Rally 2. In February 2009, a third play was released titled Team Blue vs. Team Red. Team Green was introduced as a secret in the May 2009 Snow and Sports catalog. Later in the September 2010 Snow & Sports catalog, Team Yellow was introduced. In September 2010, Club Penguin: Game Day! was released which would feature the 4 teams competing to take over the island. Along with the release of Club Penguin: Game Day!, the Stadium Games took place on online Club Penguin. Once the Stadium Games ended, there was a halt in sport-related events until 2013. For the Medieval Party 2011, 3 new teams were introduced to replace the classic medieval team trio: Yellow, Blue and Red. During the Monsters University Takeover, four new teams were introduced. Those teams were OK (Oozma Kappa), RΩR (Roar Omega Roar), PNK (Python Nu Kappa) and JOX (Jaws Theta Chi). After competing in the Scare Games, Team OK won the competition. At the Penguin Cup, new teams were added called Hot Sauce, Fluffies, Sharks and Space Squids.

Sports and Other Activities

Snowball Fights

Usually, snowball fights between Team Red and Team Blue take place at the Snow Forts daily. Sometimes for certain parties or events, the snow forts will be upgraded and made larger or will be replaced with another sport.

Hockey

Ever since the Ice Rink opened, the teams have competed in tournaments for ice hockey. Ever since the Soccer Pitch opened after the Penguin Games, the Ice Rink would be displayed at the Stadium every Winter through Spring.

Soccer

Soccer is commonly played every Summer at the Stadium. It was first introduced at the Penguin Games in 2008. In 2013, the Penguin Cup competition was held. Soccer is usually displayed at the Stadium from Summer to Autumn.

Football

Although the Stadium never changes to a Football field, uniforms are still released in the Snow & Sports catalog. Yellow Team is the only main team that lacks Football jerseys. There is an Orange Football Helmet despite there being no main Orange Team.

Baseball

Baseball uniforms were sold in Snow & Sports catalog. The tools to make your own Baseball Field were once sold in the Snow & Sports catalog. Team Yellow doesn't have a Baseball uniform, although there is a yellow baseball cap.

Basketball

There are no Basketball stadiums around the island, though members may create their own Basketball courts in their igloos. There hasn't been any official Basketball competitions, and has only been seen in the setting of the plays Team Blue's Rally Debut, Team Blue's Rally 2 and Team Blue vs. Team Red.

Track

During the Penguin Games, there was a large track around the island. There were also tracksuits you could buy in Snow & Sports.

Party Events

For most of the Puffle Parties until 2013, puffles would join in on snowball fights at the Snow Forts. During the Adventure Party 2009, the Stadium temporarily was turned into a pool. Ever since the Music Jam 2009, every Music Jam, excluding the Make Your Mark: Ultimate Jam!, has had a "Battle of the Bands". During the 2010 Adventure Party there were two ships, members could access this area and go either to the Red Ship or the Yellow Ship, and step on a platform to shoot giant snowballs or throw snowballs in a loading tube for the cannon. The more snowballs shot from the cannons to the opposing teams' ship would result in the ship being "broken" (having holes in the ship and water spurting out.), but if penguins were using the hard hat to fix the "broken parts", the ship would return to its normal state. Also, in the Stadium Games, Team Yellow was officially introduced and competed against Teams Red, Green and Blue. During the Holiday Party 2012 was a snowball fight between Red and Blue Team in the Beach.
