Hi guys. This isn't a vote, but it's more of a discussion regarding trivia sections in articles. For those of you more experienced users, I borrowed Zap's naming system for a forum by calling it 'Project' followed by some weird name. Anyways... I have (and a lot of others) got a problem with the trivia sections in articles. It seems like every editor just dumps any information they get into that section. We should call this the Club Penguin Trivia wiki, because every article seems to have all information inclubpuffler heard of an article? Articles are separated into several sections about one aspect of the subject in the mind. The trivia in that article should be put in different sections. Let me go through the whole trivia section in that article:

  1. "You could also sit on the benches to be in the crowd and root for the blue team and/or red team." - There is nothing unusual or trivial about that. It is pretty self-explanatory, and should be in a "description" section or something.
  2. "In Mission 1, the circle on the top right side (see picture) is cut by a penguin with a green snorkel. Therefore, some penguins believe there might be a new room under there saying: PEEK-A-BOO!. Some think that the penguin with a green snorkel opened one of the windows in the Cave (see picture) and dived up. That explains why there was water leaking." - Most of this is speculation. Some however is an encyclopedic explanation to it, and none of this should be in the trivia section. This is more suited to a "speculation" or "rumours" section.
  3. "When the Soccer Pitch was replaced, more protests for the Ice Rink have been made." - Fluctuating tense for one, it should be since not when, if you want the sentence to be even close to grammatically correct. Or it should be had not have. Also, there's nothing trivial about this. HISTORY SECTIONS. We need so much more of them. So many editors are so preoccupied about what cool extra colour they found on their party hat, they don't even care to think about how the popularity of an item has changed over the years, or in what mediums was it featured in and so on...
  4. "A glitch occurred on November 26, 2009. The map showed the Ice Rink but when the cursor was over the picture, the label said "Soccer Pitch"". This is the closest non-trivia thing that is in the trivia section to being trivial. There should be a glitches article for this though.
  5. "Unlike the Soccer Pitch, there is only one stand." - Thank you! Some trivia.

Now, what do you guys think about the movement, and what are you going to do to help? Post below. --Tigernose ChatEdits 17:28, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, a lot of text is in the wrong position, and should be moved. I'll help. --Staffan15 (talk|contribs) 17:44, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I will help of my best! EllyppiTalk to me! My edits! Check out my blog! 17:50, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not in, I think the trivia sectionof articles is just perfect, I agree that some of the information should be put in a new section, but if we do that then we would have a lot of sections saying one or two sentences. The trivia sections are to put not only trivia things, also things than't don't fit in another section of the article. --Ratonbat 20:09, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Trivia is for trivial trivia, nothing else. --Zapwire (talk/blog/edits) 20:39, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
If they don't fit into another section, make a new one! Isn't that what editing's about? Improve articles, don't just wait for them to be improved! --Tigernose ChatEdits 20:54, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
Tigernose, if we do another section for each thing that isnt trivial, then we would have articles with lots of section but with only 1 or 2 sentences, I suggest we do a new section called Others (or whatever) and there we put things that don't fit in another section.--Ratonbat 00:52, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Then don't sit there and add more information! There's still information out there, and don't just put it in trivia because there isn't an existing article to put it in. Be resourceful, learn some wiki-ing and you'd be confident with padding out articles soon. --Tigernose ChatEdits 16:42, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

I can't agree more. We should start a trivia clean up drive, and move the un-needed trivia info to places that they belong in. --seahorseruler |Talk (EditCount) Yoshi! 01:08, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

I can't believe I never started this forum! I was going to but than I forgot. We need to really cleanup the trivia section in every article. --Alxeedo Blah blah blah... 01:47, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

Yes. --Hal Homsar Solo 大家一起喜羊羊! (Everybody together: Pleasant Goat!) 02:16, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

Of course! There's a lot of unnecessary information that's in the wrong place. These can cause people to start rumors sometimes. LordMaster96 Talk to me! 04:16, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

I always help on removing 'junk trivia' as they are pointless, garbage and jibberish, however some may need just a magic touch to become useful again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hahahahahahaha (talkcontribsedit count)

this so true. Our trivia sections are **** piles (pardon my language, but they are). I've been doing this since I joined the Wiki- User:Jupiter5

Just remember when your fixing trivia, don't remove trivia, move it to another section, or if there isn't another section, make an appropriate one. Be resourceful. --Tigernose ChatEdits 14:32, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

There are many useless trivia sentences.I have 3 examples of it: Mwa Mwa Penguins, Uncle Arctic, and stuff that is already mentioned in the article. I have tried to get rid of this stuff. EDFan12345 likes Yams Give in to The Dark Side!

I don't really know, if we make a section for every different trivia that isn't trivial, then it probably bogs (slows it down) down the wiki. I'm not sure, other then that, I think it's a good idea. --I found something over here! Oh good grief! Who ate my pie? File:Smile spin.gif CHILL PIZZA!! 19:40, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

I finally cleaned the useless trivia sentences in Mwa Mwa Penguins, next I will get rid of the useless trivia sentences in other articles-Mcmuffin98 3:32, March 6, 2010

I agree. I will start to clean up any trivia I see that needs cleaning. ~Bluesockwa2 23:20, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
