Club Penguin Wiki:Permissions

This is a summary of permissions that can be granted on the Club Penguin Wiki.

Rollbacks

The Rollback permission allows a user to quickly revert multiple edits with a single click. Usually, anyone who does a lot of vandalism cleanup would be given this right. Many other groups, including Administrators and Staff, are automatically granted rollback permissions. Please see the Rollback page for more information.

Administrators

Administrators (also known as Admins or Sysops) are a group of experienced users who maintain the wiki through enforcing policies and the use of special functions given to them. Given the amount of experience they have on the wiki, they are usually the best users to contact whenever you have a question. Administrators are elected via the Requests for Adminship process. Bureaucrats

Bureaucrats are Administrators who also have the ability to grant or revoke Administrator permissions from other users. New Bureaucrats are rarely promoted as Bureaucrat rights are rarely used. Like Administrators, Bureaucrats are elected via the Requests for Adminship process. Please see the Bureaucrat page for more information.

Other Permissions

Autoconfirmed users

Users who make a minimum amount of edits and have an account that is old enough are automatically given Autoconfirmed permissions. This loosens up restrictions on the account, allowing them to upload files and edit semi-protected pages.

Bots

Bots are automated processes that perform routine tasks automatically. Functions performed by bots include welcoming new users, fixing double redirects, fixing typos, etc. The Bot permission will hide an account's actions Recent Changes to avoid flooding.

Importers

Importers are users who can import pages and files from other websites. This right is soon to be removed as it is rarely needed anymore.

Restricted Permissions

The following rights can only be granted by Club Penguin Wiki Network Staff. They are usually only granted under special circumstances.

Check users

Check User is a tool that allows Staff to retrieve an account's IP addresse(s) and agent information. All Check User actions are logged in a private log.

Very rarely, non-staff may be promoted to the "Check users" group so that they can access the tool. This is almost never done due to the nature of the tool.

Interface editors

Users given the "Interface editor" permission can edit all MediaWiki namespace system messages as well as all Widgets. Most of the time, this is assigned globally to trusted users who assist staff with on-site technical tasks such as crosswiki CSS editing.

Staff

Staff are users who have full access to all functions on every Club Penguin Wiki Network wiki, including the Club Penguin Wiki, Club Penguin Fanon Wiki, Club Penguin Shops Wiki, and the Club Penguin Archives Wiki. They have all of the rights that regular local Administrators of each individual wiki have on top of their additional rights.
