Well, after heavy discussions on IRC, the admins have come to a conclusion, that we will propose to the public. Note that this forum uses roleplay to counter every point against this idea.
Okay so here's how it works:
Sea, Shark, Hat Pop, Wompus, Zapwire and Tigernose all witnessed the discussion, and we are proposing that all rollbacks should be demoted. Sounds shocking? I'll explain why.
You guys still haven't grasped the actual purpose of a rollback. I have said it isn't a rank, but it's so irrelevant to our users it's unneeded. I'll paste exactly what Ajraddatz said:
“ | ::I'd like to point out that rollback is not meant to be some permanent thing. It is designed to be a counter-vandalism tool and should be given to those who undo vandalism. However, it is up to you guys how you use each of the user groups. | ” |

Exactly!
Ratonbat said he is more rollback-active than Hal, and I agree. But he's hardly rollback-active at all! The rollback right is supposed to be given to someone who is going to actually revert vandalism, instead of reverting vandalism occasionally. The rollback right is supposed to be a temporary right, maybe given to a user during a spam-attack, but not to be given to someone because of prestige. No one on this wiki should be a rollback because they don't need to be.
Roleplay example
- User: That's not fair. I'm a rollback, I'll lose it!
- Tigernose: But have you ever needed it? Yes, you might have used it once in a while, but you don't need it.
- User: But I am more active at reverting than rollback X!
- Tigernose: That doesn't matter, you hardly every revert anyways.
- User: What makes you think you're so special?
- Tigernose: I'm not, don't get in a hissy hit about a proposal. It's still going through voting.
- User: Fine, but that's unfair on people who do actually revert vandalism.
- Tigernose: Nobody here actually spends their time with an anti-vandalism program for Wikia, going through pages with a bot performing counter-vandalism.
- User: But what if I come across vandalism, how will I revert it then?
- Tigernose: Ever heard of the undo button? Believe it or not, there are other ways to remove vandalism. The undo tool only removes one edit from a page, but it's all you need usually. There are so many positives for this undo button:
- You can leave an edit summary when undoing a revision, unlike with the rollback tool.
- The rollback tool only can revert the latest vandalism revisions, the undo tool can revert previous revisions on a page.
- User: Wow! I never knew that!
- Tigernose: Furthermore, us admins never even use the rollback tool. We find ourselves using the undo tool more, because we can give reasons in the summary.
- User: So why is the rollback tool even needed for and for who if so?
- Tigernose: As I said, there are users who have this right because they solely make an account on Wikia to counter-vandalise. Plus, admins get this tool included in their sysop package!
- User: So what do we do with it?
- Tigernose: Keep it in the shadows, demote every rollback and if someone willing comes along, we give them right via RfA.
- User: But isn't it unfair on the rollbacks who might get demoted?
- Tigernose: Remember, they can use the undo tool, which in most cases is better.
- User: OH YAH! Thanks dude.
This proposal in a nutshell
Voting for
If this vote goes with a majority of for votes then all rollbacks will be demoted, and rollback rights will only be given to users who solely anti-vandalise (Alxeedo1111 for example is the perfect example, check out his Wikipedia account) or temporarily to users when there's a vandal attack.
Voting against
If this vote fails, then all rollbacks will stay per Forum:Rollbacks. This of course means keeping the unneeded rights to users who don't need it.
So that's about it guys. Vote nao. --Tigernose Chat • Edits 22:05, January 29, 2010 (UTC)

Against (6)
- Permament rollbacks, but pick better ones - take the current's powers and give them to people who will use the better - this is better in case of raids without bureaucrats. People who don't have it can use undo. --Zapwire (talk/blog/edits) 21:35, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
- temporary rollbacks would only make fights.--Ratonbat 21:59, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Zapwire and Ratonbat. --Staffan15 (talk|contribs) 23:04, January 29, 2010 (UTC)

- I'm a rollback but not saying that I hate losing my job here but, I use the rollback button all the time, and visit this wiki almost everyday! (Well maybe I missed a few) Template:Hasign
- Rollbacking is a permanet honor that users work hard to recieve. Whether you demote them for so-called "inactivity" is up to you, but someone shouldn't lose that honor just because a site is at peace. --† This is Serious Business! I am just editing and visiting for fun. I don't get this whole rollback rank thing so I am not voting cause I don't get it...

Problem is Zapwire, nobody uses it for the better. I understand what you mean, my whole point is remove the rights from our current rollbacks because nobody needs them, and if somebody permanatly requests for it (and truly needs it, see my metaphor in my roleplay for someone who needs it) and we vote for it, then we give it. For vandal attacks, we give it temporarily. But in all other cases, keep it quiet and nobody has it. Also Bubbles, check this for info about rollbacks. --Tigernose Chat • Edits 21:43, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
- Now you explain it well. In that case, yes. --Zapwire (talk/blog/edits) 21:48, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. I don't fully understand it (Since it doesn't concern me) however I will keep editing. One question, what do I do if I see vandalisim because I see it a lot and don't know what to do..
