Club Penguin Wiki:Archive/Sharkbate's Admin Right

I know I'm doing this without anybody else knowing, but it's only effective if it's a "surprise" and not a "demotion warning". Look, Sharkbate has had his admin right since this summer, and since September 4, 2011 (2 and a half months ago), he's done nothing with his admin rights on the wiki itself. I know he's active on IRC, but that is not good enough for an admin. See Special:Logs/Sharkbate and Special:Contributions/Sharkbate.

I know he's busy working on a game called Planet Polar Bear for the wiki, but as an administrator, two and a half months of nothing on the wiki itself simply isn't acceptable. There has to be at least one user out there who may need the right more, and with some training, they could also turn out to be a great admin.

I'm not mad at Sharkbate. He's a great user, but I just want him and the community to realize that there isn't a point of having an administrator right when they don't necessarily need the right. This also does not prevent him from getting the right back in the future when he really does need it. It's about time where it's long enough to open up this forum. And simply editing and maintaining the wiki now because you know there's a demotion forum doesn't convince me that you'll need your rights still. --LordMaster96 05:49, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Demote Sharkbate? (-1)

Yes (7)

  3. Nothing against Sharkbate, but he has not edited in a long time. Per what Sea said, you don't need to edit 24/7 to be an admin, but he hasn't edited since September. --ClubPenguinMasterTalk 20:22, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
  4. I vote for yes because 2 1/2 months isn't acceptable. And to Seahorse: I know you don't have to edit 24/7, but 2 1/2 MONTHS? That is a different story! Plus he is 17 years old, he is busy, he is working on a game, most likely he won't edit much. He might edit a little after he sees this, but after 5 days, he will stop. Brookelas

  6. If he's not gonna use his admin rights actively, he doesn't need them. Nothing against Shark however. NickelbackFan37 Check out that freeze frame! What month is that, kablamuary? 02:04, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
  7. Sorry Shark, but having the right is useless if you don't edit. --LMGT Talk to tha donut dood! 02:05, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

No (8)

  1. He has a lot more experience than most of you. You don't need to edit articles 24/7 to be an administrator. He is on IRC every day and is around to attend to requests if ever needed. If anyone on this place can be trusted with admin rights, Sharkbate is definitely number 1 on that list. --Seahorseruler (Talk Page) (Contribs) 19:45, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
  2. Nonononono! This is ShrimpPin (sorry, the cookies thing won't let me log in X'( ). Definitely do NOT demote Shark! He has so much experience with techy stuff that probably only he and Sea understand. Even if he can do that job without Admin rights, he still always is happy to help out whenever there's a problem. Please think about what you're doing before you demote him. -Shrimp
  3. Nope. Just Nope. Shark is techy, and I think only Sea and Him understand that. Though he is inactive, he deserves to still be an admin. --WonderweezTalk to meh 00:51, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Wonderweez
  4. Noooo keep him --1998drpepper(TALK|CONTRIBS 01:47, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

  • I really don't know what to vote for, I think Shark should have his last chance.... On the other hand, he was demoted for inactivity 2 times on the past... --PenblooeR © 2011 21:01, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
  • Seahorse, as I've said, besides being on IRC, has he done anything with his given rights for almost 1/4 of the year? No. Being on IRC is a great live communication tool, but compared to our days at Wikia (and even since then we considered admins on IRC to be at least partially active), admins could've used Wikia CVN to know if there's vandalism without logging in, but since the move, we have no CVN, and without checking the wiki, there is no way of knowing there's vandalism. My point now is that being an administrator but only being active on IRC would have the scale tipped towards the inactive side more. --LordMaster96 00:22, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
  • I can't believe I blew it yet again. Whatever then. Vote for what you believe. To be honest though, do you see Hat Pop or Seahorse editing constantly? Nope. Nothing against them, obviously, but it's true. By LM's logic, all of us should be demoted. In my opinion, there's barely anything to edit now a days and on top of that, I have PPB to work on, especially with people asking about it. If I stop it just to find a page with one tiny error (which would take hours, look at how many pages there are!), then PPB would be delayed yet again. So go ahead, demote me. Just don't expect me to take anymore time out of PPB to come back. Smile smile. --$harkbate Talk Page 00:40, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
    • I never said you had to edit 24/7 to be an admin. You're just not doing your job as an admin. Why are you pointing fingers at Seahorse as well? He formed the wiki council. As for Hat Pop, I looked into it, and I have to say, she's in a very similar situation as you, though I may wait until this forum ends. This wiki needs fresh legs. --LordMaster96 01:44, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
  • Wonderweez - there's nothing really "techy" required to be an admin... if you have tech skills, might as well be a staffer in the technical division. And speaking of "admin", an admin is supposed to maintain/improve the wiki, not do nothing with their given rights. I understand there's less things to do on the wiki, but still, it's been too long. --LordMaster96 01:44, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
  • Well... Let's face it... he's been inactive so yeah, he should be demoted.
  • If I may say something: I understand we need fresh legs, but by using this logic, you could like eliminate half the admins here because most of the time, we don't use our rights (as there has been almost no need lately). --Hat Pop Bunny Ears Rule! 02:59, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
    • Exactly. This vote makes no sense. Nobody uses their rights because they aren't needed right now. We aren't vandalized as much as before. You, Lordmaster, don't use your rights all the time. Nobody does. Like Seahorse said, if anyone needs something from me, then I'm available. If you're going to demote me, demote all of us, including yourself, because none of us edit all the time or use our rights all the time. --$harkbate Talk Page 14:07, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
      • I agree. Shark's extremely busy with PPB (which, of course, none of you have to deal with while also keeping the wiki in shape) and seriously, none of the admins are edit-monsters. Yeah, they help out on pages occasionally, but their main function is just to keep the wiki running and in good shape. Demoting Shark (who does no less than any of you) would be a big mistake.

  • OK then, I resign. Officially. I'll let somebody else take my spot. --LordMaster96 18:02, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
  • Closing forum in a little bit, I doubt it will pass. --Seahorseruler (Talk Page) (Contribs) 20:07, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
