Club Penguin Wiki:Archive/The Move Off Wikia
Historical Page (Archived) This page is about something that no longer applies to the Club Penguin Wiki. It has been kept for historical purposes. Notes: n/a |
The Club Penguin Wiki and its sister wikis decided to move off Wikia when they released a new mandatory skin codenamed "Oasis" and officially named "Wikia" (I know, right, they named a skin after themselves, arrogant if you ask me :P ).
- Tigernose: Well anyway, we started with finding a host, and we selected DreamHost, in which Tigernose paid the first bill for us! We opened our paypal for donations to help us pay future bills! Tigernose and I are the ones who lead the whole move off Wikia :).
- Z K donated our largest donation! Z K donated an amazing $150! Be sure to stop by the fanon and gladly thank him for his wonderful contribution!
Technical Thank-You
Aside from myself, we have gained so much tech help from volunteers who have helped us
- Andrew has done much of our tech work and even wrote extensions for us, such as "COPPA" and "MassUserRights"! He is currently our lead Technical team member.
- Krinkle, a user I know from Wikimedia helped us out a lot as well, giving us a wonderful Staff-Control panel, helping us fix up some monaco css which was before breaking the skin, and coding us some better templates!
Importing!
Many of our users spend countless hours importing our pages and images from the old wiki! Almost all of our users helped out, and I will name a few here (Its impossible for me to list everyone so please leave a message on this page's talk page if you want to be indcluded in the list!):
- Hat Pop
- LordMaster96
- ClubPenguinMaster (CPMaster on IRC)
- ...Request to be added!
The users I listed are mainly the ones who I can remember, usually because they are on IRC a lot and I usually remember better if it happens on IRC
Conclusion
The move was generally extremely successful! We hope you enjoy the new wiki much more!
Thank you to Everyone who helped!,
