Patrolling can be used to confirm edits as OK, confirming they are not vandalism/spam/etc. Unpatrolled edits are edits not confirmed as valid, and marked by a red ! on recent changes and history. When an edit is marked as patrolled, it can be presumed that the edit is OK.

Administrator edits will always be marked as patrolled.
