User:CK/My Story
Opening Regards
This is my story of the CPWN, and how I became involved with it. I have been here since the start of the network, but the story itself isn't truly about that- it's about me. It's my memoir of memories and experiences, lessons learned and friends made here. I figured it was time to start writing this before I forget too many things or become uninterested, so that I can remember these things forever and look back upon them.
I dedicate this to all who have guided me in the past, stood by my side in the present, and will be there for me in the future. -CK
Prologue: Join the Club
Ahh, where could I start the story of me other than the place that started it all? Club Penguin. Before late 2007, it was a name I had never heard before, but afterwards it would ultimately become a larger part of my life than I ever thought it could.
Supposedly my love for penguins started when I was around 6 months old. My family had annual passes to Seaworld Orlando, so we'd travel there once every few months. According to my mother, one of the first times I went to Seaworld was when I was 6 months old, or at least that was the first time I went into the "Penguin Encounter" (penguin exhibit). According to her, as soon as we entered the exhibit my eyes were glued on those adorable balls of feathers, and that's what started my love for penguins.
I've loved penguins as far back as I can remember, so I assume that story's correct. On Christmas Eve or morning 2005 (I think it was morning, because my mom forgot to give it to me Christmas Eve), I received one of the greatest Christmas Gifts ever- a "stuffed" penguin. He was special because he was made from "polystyrene foam beads". After deliberation with my (at that time) best friend, because we were invited to their house on Christmas, I decided to name him Penguino. One of the main reasons is because for a few weeks or months up until that point, I was being a silly child calling penguins "penguinos" in a hispanic sense.
Sometime in 2007, my mom found miniclip.com and constantly played certain games. Sometime towards late 2007, my mom noticed a game called "Club Penguin", and told me about it since penguins were my favorite animal (and still are). I assume that she noticed it because it was like the number 1 game on miniclip for like 2 years. Anyways, in November she allowed me to make an account on this new found game. My first idea- Penguino. Unfortunately Penguino was taken, so I tried a few more names, Penguino1 and Penquino. Those were both taken as well, but Penquino1 worked so I rolled with it. According to the research i've done, the first time I logged into CP was on November 15th, 2007, one day before the Stage opened.
One of the first memories of have of CP is the Surprise Party. I truly enjoyed the finesse of it all, and I knew then that Club Penguin was going to be fun. I also remember reading about Yellow Puffles being discovered in the newspaper, and I knew I wanted to adopt one. Sometime in December 2007, I got my first CP membership and I went crazy buying stuff I wanted. It was then that I purchased my first puffle- Snuggles the Yellow Puffle. In addition, I remember buying the Pilgrim Hat and wearing it all of the time, as well as also buying the I Love My Puffle T-Shirt sometime around then.
Over the years on Club Penguin I enjoyed a lot of things- all of the awesome parties, new puffles, rooms, PSA missions, and even a mascot (Gary was the first mascot I met, I'm pretty sure I met him at the Halloween Party 2008).
Chapter 1: A New Realm
Let's skip a few years... now we're in 2010. CP had changed in so many ways: They'd done away with the original American/Canadian/Australian server choices, introduced new languages, new, awesome merchandise, a bunch of new mascots, Aqua as a color, and even two new puffles. But at that time it was still good ol' CP.
As for real life differences, you don't realize how dramatic the change is until you go back over that time and look at the situation. Over the summer of 2010, I had just finished 6th grade and was ready for 7th. My parents had divorced in May, and on the 15th I had even turned 12! But none of that is really relevant unless you look at it and compare it to the beginning of my new life.
According to wikia (although I don't remember for certain), I had joined the Club Penguin Wiki on August 3rd, 2010. I remember that it was right around the time Stamps had come out, and a few weeks before the Mountain Expedition, which, to this day is one of my favorite parties just because of how unique it was. Now, if you want to ask me how I found the wiki? I have absolutely no idea. According to my Wikia contribution logs, my first edit was the following, added to the Mountain Expedition page on August 3rd, 2010:
- "It also is said that it has lots of surprises for members."
In August and September 2010, I mainly just made small edits, and asked a lot of questions (the latter being a fad that would continue until mid-2011). I think my editing breakthrough occurred on October 4th, 2010, when I made 10 pages related to the newly released Cart Surfer stamps.
In addition to edits, I was also warmly welcomed to the wiki by people such as LordMaster96 and Hat Pop, who also ended up answering a lot of questions I had.
However, it is also around this time when I got into a bad trend. From September 2010 until early 2011, there were a lot of pages created by me with absolutely no content (mostly item pages). I just wanted to create the pages before people like LordMaster and ClubPenguinMaster so I could get credit for creating them. I ended up being banned for it by Tux on CPM's request, but Sea ended up unbanning me a day or so later.
Chapter 1.5: A Network is Born
To be honest, I wasn't exactly "around" for the birth of the network. I mean, sure, I was on the wiki, but I wasn't really the "helpful" type that was importing things and preparing for the move. All I knew is that the Club Penguin Wiki was moving to it's own site sometime between October and November. I didn't even know for sure that we'd moved until late November, after Sea asked me to move to the new site!
As for the whole "network" aspect, I never really paid much attention to Fanon or UNCP. They existed, but I didn't really want to be involved with them. I was happily content with being an awesome CP player and adding everything new onto the CPW.

Writer's Notes
- I'm sorry that each "chapter" might not reach the extent that a normal book chapter would reach, but I feel that each "chapter" encompasses a different chapter of my life on the network. As such, I will write as much as I can honestly remember and post it in my own point of view- so each section could be anywhere from one sentence to 100 paragraphs.
- None of the content is meant to hurt people's feelings or spread "propaganda", although it might be viewed as such. All of the text is my experiences and my emotions, written in my point of view. So please, forgive me if something in here is hateful towards you or a certain user.
- Now, look below to see some of my off-topic recollections and thoughts for each chapter.
Prologue
- Penguino is still with me, and like CP, he just celebrated his 8th birthday. He's just a bit dirtier than he was 8 years ago :P
- I also remember, my starting penguin color was black. I was convinced to make it black by my mom because of logic (penguins are black). Actually, my starting color may have been Dark Blue, but I used black a lot in the early days due to the previously mentioned reason. I guess it was sometime in 2008 that I changed my main color to Dark Blue.
- One of my favorite early memories of Club Penguin was from December 2007. I had remembered seeing the furniture catalog where it said that I could click the arrow keys to change the item, except I figured it worked on all items. I really wanted a Santa Hat (because this was during the Christmas Party 2007 and others had one), but all I saw in the Penguin Style was an Elf Hat. So, being the genius I am I purchased the elf hat, put it on and spent like 10 minutes pressing the arrow keys trying to get it to change colors. I don't remember when I realized that it didn't work, but at some point in time I must have found the free item stand with the santa hat in it.
Chapter 1
- As I said, I have no idea about how I found the CPW. However, I do remember being super excited about Stamps at the time, so I may have looked up something about it on google and ended up here. If I did, then I was here a while before Stamps were released as a viewer, however I truly don't remember that far back.
- "Although I joined in August, I wouldn't say I became a dedicated editor until later on, when I tried to compete with people to make pages." That quote was going to be placed in Chapter 1, and my Network CPW Contributions log backs that up (nothing other than userspace edits until November). However, I felt that wasn't entirely right so I checked my wikia contrib. log, and I suppose my contribs. (and possibly my edits) were never transferred.
- Although I added my apparent first edit in the biography, I thought my second edit was quite funny, so here it is (trivia added to the Mummy Costume page):
- "*Some Mwa Mwa penguins use this costume to look like eggs"
- For the record, my three earliest created pages were made in August 2010, and were titled Country Preserve, Crutches, and Postcard Stamps, respectively. Although they all ended up being deleted (Country Preserve was later recreated) which somewhat shut me out of article making for a while.
